Android 5.0 Lollipop has started its rollout to older Nexus devices and Nexus handsets are all over the news lately because of it. Google has announced its new hardware as well as the new version of its Android OS last month. Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player got announced. The first two actually symbolize Nexus’ switch to high-end hardware considering the starting price of the Nexus 6, for example, is $649. Anyhow, all of these handsets are already available for purchase in certain parts of the world, though Nexus 6 is somewhat difficult to get these days, despite its rather high price point.
Anyhow, China Mobile reports that Motorola-made Nexus 6 handset will soon come to China and even guesses what will its price point be. As I said, Nexus 6 pricing starts from $649 in the US, other parts of the world are a completely different story though, the price gets higher of course. China Mobile actually thinks that this phablet could cost around 4,999 Yuan ($816) once it gets launched in China, which is a really, really high price point. You get premium hardware here and a great experience, but either way you spin this, 4,999 Yuan is a lot of cash.
Nexus 6 is made by Motorola and this phone basically symbolizes Google’s shift to premium space as far as Nexus handsets are concerned. Nexus 6 features a 5.96-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440) AMOLED display along with 3GB of RAM and 32 or 64GB of non-expandable internal storage. This handset is powered by Qualcomm’s beastly Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor clocked at 2.7GHz which comes along with an Adreno 420 GPU for graphics processing. On the back of this device, you’ll find a 13-megapixel OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) camera while there’s a 2-megapixel snapper located on the front of the device. Nexus 6 ships with Android 5.0 Lollipop and a non-removable 3220mAh battery. The Nexus 6 measures 159.3 x 83 x 10.1mm and weighs 184 grams while it sports a premium build as well.
Google Nexus 6 is a premium device and as such it has a premium price as well. I was hoping for a significantly cheaper (and smaller) handset, but we can’t always get what we want, now can we. This device packs truly beastly specifications and considering everything its price isn’t too high, but it’s still quite premium, even in US. The price gets higher outside of the states and becomes more of a problem elsewhere I believe, we’ll have to wait and see how high will that price be in China. Would you buy the Nexus 6 if CNMO’s predictions come true and the device ends up costing 4,999 Yuan ($816)?
