Xiaomi Mi2(S) Vanilla Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM Is Now Available For Download

Xiaomi Mi2 is still very much a capable device with a rather solid hardware on the inside despite the fact Xiaomi already released 2 flagships after that device. A couple of days ago we’ve shared some images of this device running Android 5.0 Lollipop which I’m sure made a lot of Mi2 owners happy. This time around we bring you an unfinished build of Android 5.0 Lollipop build for the Xiaomi Mi2, this is a leaked unofficial version, so keep that in mind. Another thing to keep in mind is that many things in this ROM don’t exactly work properly, it’s still in its early stage. This is not Xiaomi’s leaked Android 5.0 version with MIUI on top of it but Google’s vanilla Android ported to the Xiaomi Mi2, we’re talking about a pure Android experience here. The ROM might cause you problems with Bluetooth functionality and CDMA China Telecom cards, though expect many other issues on the way as well.

This ROM actually leaked from a Chinese source, so I’m not sure what networks it support or will it work with international Mi2 devices. The screenshots you can find down below show an English language in the system though. Anyhow, if you’re willing to give this a shot, you can download the ROM here (password: jq5q), recovery here (password: kls7) and you can get the tutorial (in Chinese though) by clicking here. Keep in mind that this requires some knowledge when it comes to rooting your phone and flashing custom ROM on it, if you don’t know what you’re doing you could easily brick your phone and thus make it rather unusable. Don’t try to flash this ROM if you don’t know what you’re doing, it’s just not worth it considering the bugs, do it only if you’re very familiar with the procedure and extremely interested in seeing this fired up on your Xiaomi Mi2 handset.

I hope that we’ll be able to get our hands on some sort of a final build version of this ROM sometime in the future, I bet there are still Xiaomi Mi2 users out there who would love to run a stock version of Android 5.0 Lollipop on that device.
