Android 5.0.1 Lollipop Now Rolling Out To The HTC One M7 And M8 GPE Devices

HTC’s Android Lollipop OTA update for One M7 and One M8 Google Play Edition handsets is finally here. The saga is over, after several delays, which annoyed many HTC users, the update is finally rolling out to users. HTC’s Mo Versi said earlier today that the rollout will begin today and that just happened. Surprise, surprise, HTC decided to skip over the 5.0 update and just straight to 5.0.1 version, LRX22C is the build number. This could be the reason why the update was delayed, I believe, two times thus far. Anyhow, the wait is now over and if you own an HTC One M7 or M8 Google Play Edition smartphone, the chances are you’ll get the update within the next couple of days.

The update itself is about 500MB big and if you don’t check for updates like a maniac every 5 minutes (like I do), your phone will notify you when the OTA update is available, so don’t sweat it. If you’d like to manually flash an update for your device, feel free to download the update files for HTC One M7 and One M8, just click on the handset you own and the download will commence. There’s still no word on when will the update arrive for regular One M7 and M8 handsets, but it should be here in the next couple of months, at least HTC promised the update will arrive within 3 months since Lollipop’s release.

I personally do not own either of the two devices, so I can’t update it personally, but I’d like to hear from you and hear your thoughts on the update. You’ll get a complete revamp of the OS along with Android 5.0 Lollipop, of course. We’ve talked about it at length, not only will your battery be improved through Google’s Project Volta, but your UI will look completely different and Google additionally optimized the OS in its newest Lollipop edition. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the update once arrives, so, if you’d like, let us know how you like the update, as always.
