Coolpad Platinum Dayton Is Now Available For Purchase Via Jingdong Mall For A Whopping 4,680 Yuan ($761)

Coolpad has released something rather interesting lately, in collaboration with China Telecom. The company has released its new handset called Coolpad Platinum Dayton, a couple of days ago. This handset sports really great specs on the inside, but what got people’s attention is its software. This device features a rather interesting security feature, a dual boot mode of sorts. You can switch to “CDS” security mode at any time and by doing that encrypt your device even further. This mode will block internet connection in order to fully protect you and it takes 10GB out of 32GB internal storage overall in order to operate, it also takes 200MB of RAM for itself out of overall 3GB of RAM which comes with this handset. Coolpad also said that you can switch between two modes by moving the switch at the bottom of the handset, your device won’t even reboot. We’re still waiting for a more detailed look at this CDS mode and will let you know as soon as we find something out.

Either way, we didn’t know the price of this handset up to this point, well, the handset just hit Jingdong Mall in China and its price is set at 4,680 Yuan ($761), which is just insane if you ask me. This device does offer high-end specs and everything, but I don’t believe Coolpad has the luxury of pricing its handsets this high, don’t forget this is China we’re talking about, you can get and MX4 or Mi4 flagships there for under 2,000 Yuan, which basically means you can get both of those for the price of Platinum Dayton… and still have some cash left. It seems like a really odd choice by Coolpad, but who knows, perhaps I’m wrong and this handset turns out to be immensely successful for the company.

Let’s check out its specs. Coolpad Platinum Dayton features a 5.98-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1400) display along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. This beast is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz which comes with an Adreno 330 GPU for graphics processing. Two 13-megapixel cameras are located on the back of this handset and below those sensors you’ll find a dual-LED flash. 5-megapixel front-facing camera is also available. Those cameras on the back apparently have some features which let you reduce noise by 40% and it can allegedly focus the image in just 150ms. The device supports TD-LTE and FDD LTE bands and as I already mentioned, it’s available for purchase via Jingdong Mall if you live in China.
