We’ve been seeing a lot of Chinese phones lately, some of them are good and some of them are bad. China does have a number of quality OEMs at the moment though, aside from the well known brands like Lenovo and Huawei (for example), Meizu and Xiaomi are emerging as great brands and it will be interesting to see what can they do on a global scale. Other brands aside, we’re here to talk about Coolpad. This Chinese manufacturer just unveiled (in collaboration with China Telecom) its new smartphone, a flagship device, and it’s sporting some really great specs. The report is saying that this handset actually boots 2 operating systems if I managed to understand it correctly, Android is one of them, but the phone also comes with some sort of security system which blocks internet connection and its purpose is to protect the system. This system is called CDS and it offers improved encryption technology. Coolpad also says that you can switch between these two systems without rebooting, all you have to do is press the button at the bottom. This secure system takes about 10GB out of overall 32GB internal storage of this handset, this system also takes 200MB of RAM for itself, while the phone ships with 3GB of RAM.
That being said, let’s talk about its specifications. Coolpad’s Platinum Dayton is a phablet device, it features a 5.98-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1400) display along with 3GB of RAM for your multitasking needs and 32GB of built-in storage. This beast is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz which comes with an Adreno 330 GPU for graphics processing. Two 13-megapixel cameras are located on the back of this handset and below those sensors you’ll find a dual-LED flash. 5-megapixel front-facing camera is also present and accounted for. Those cameras on the back apparently have some features which let you reduce noise by 40% and it can allegedly focus the image in just 150ms. The device supports TD-LTE and FDD LTE bands, which means users have a 4G connection available. The source didn’t provide any news when it comes to the release date of this handset, nor its price, so we’ll have to wait and see. The device will launch in China first, for sure, the question is will Coolpad make it available outside of Asia.
