Cyanogen-Powered YU Phone To Be Available Exclusively On Amazon India

Micromax and Cyanogen signed a partnership agreement quite recently and also announced that they’ll reveal a Cyanogen-powered smartphone in the near future. A couple of days ago, Micromax-owned YU company announced an event for December 18th, which is tomorrow. They didn’t exactly say what will be released there, but it’s quite obvious they’ll release a Cyanogen-powered YU phone at that event. We’ve seen a couple of leaks following that announcement saying the phone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 SoC and will sport 2GB of RAM, but we haven’t seen any official news after that, only a bunch of unofficial reports.

Amazon India has just announced that this handset will be available exclusively on Amazon, which is interesting. Recent rumor said that this handset will resemble Coolpad’s (Great God) F2 handset and according to the newly released images, that’s highly likely. Similar specs also seem to be included here, according to the aforementioned specifications leak, this handset will feature a 5.5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. This handset will reportedly be available in two processor versions, one version will run on the aforementioned Snapdragon 615 SoC while the other version will be powered by MediaTek’s MT6592 octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz. 13-megapixel camera will be located on the back of this handset while you’ll be able to find a 5-megapixel shooter on the front side of the device. Android 4.4 KitKat will come pre-installed on this device with CyanogenMod on top of it and the device will ship with a 2,500mAh battery according to the latest report.

If you follow the source, you’ll also notice a video Amazon India posted. The video itself basically shows off Cynogen Themes which were released recently, though they added the “YU phone” part in the video. That clip also re-affirms the fact that CyanogenMod will come pre-installed on this handset. Micromax and Cyanogen will announce this handset on December 18th, two days from now, we know basically everything there is to know about it (or at least we think we do), but let’s wait the announcement and see what exactly these companies have to offer.
