So we’ve seen in recent days just how Android 5.0 Lollipop will look on the Galaxy Note 4, with images showing Samsung’s phablet running the latest version of Android, which you can read more about here. Now we have the French carrier, SFR, revealing some details on when it expects the Note 4 to receive its Lollipop update. Contrary to what was previously believed, SFR believe the update will come not in December but rather in January, in France at least anyway. Of course, the Note 4 isn’t the only handset mentioned in the document, as you can see from the image below, it’s quite an extensive list including more handsets from Samsung, as well as Sony, LG, HTC, Motorola, and StarEdition. There are updates listed for some Nokia Lumia devices as well, although it isn’t really pertinent to us.
Let’s break it down one manufacturer at a time. Samsung have listed the Galaxy Mega, S4 Zoom, Note 2 4G, Grand 2 and Express 2 all pegged for a December update to 4.4.2 KitKat. The Galaxy S4 Mini and Note 2 both have updates available. Samsung’s two flagships of the moment, the Galaxy S5 should get it’s Lollipop update this month (December) with the previously mentioned Note 4 joining the Lollipop club in January.
On to HTC, and here we have an Android 4.4.2 KitKat update available for the Desire 601, with the One M8 getting a bump up to Android 4.4.4 KitKat. The LG G3 has its Android 5.0 update already available via LG’s PC Suite, with an OTA (Over-The-Air) update said to be ready shortly. Not to be left out, the Moto G should also be getting its Android 5.0 update in December at some point.
Sony have quite a few handsets due for an OS upgrade, And we can see the Xperia Z, Z Ultra, Z1, Z1 Compact, Z2 and Tablet Z all having an update available to Android 4.4.4 KitKat at the present time. So far, the French carrier isn’t showing any Lollipop updates for Sony, although it can only be a matter of time before they begin to show up. There are various StarEdition devices receiving updates, with the StarTrail 5 slated to get a KitKate update in December, and the StarShine 3, StarAddict 4 and StarXtream 2 with updates to Android 4.3/4.4.2 and 4.3 respectively ready and waiting. If you are in France and using a handset on the SFR network, what device would you like to see next updated? Let us know in the comments below or at our Google Plus page.
