Samsung Galaxy Alpha was a showcase phone for company’s new design, well, not much the look itself, but the materials used to build a phone. Galaxy Alpha was the first Samsung smartphone to sport metal as a build material, along with plastic of course. Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy A3 and A5 followed, and the only device missing from the “Galaxy A” trio of devices is the Galaxy A7. We’ve been waiting for Samsung to launch this handset and it seems like that’s going to happen soon, at least judging by the latest turn of events.
This smartphone has been verified by TENAA (China’s Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center), which is the China’s equivalent of the FCC. In a nutshell, this means the device will get launched in China soon. The device of course doesn’t look all that different than the Galaxy A3 or A5 devices, but it is somewhat larger than both of those handsets. Galaxy A7 features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of non-expandable internal storage. It measures 150.9 x 75.9 x 6.3mm, which actually makes it the thinnest Samsung smartphone ever. This thing is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 processor, a 64-bit octa-core chip clocked at 1.5GHz which ships with an Adreno 405 GPU for graphics processing. On the back of this handset, you’ll find a 13-megapixel shooter flanked by an LED flash, while there’s a 5-megapixel snapper located on the front of the device. Android 4.4.4 KitKat ships with this device with Samsung’s skin on top of it, of course. SM-A7009 is the approved model of this handset and it is made specifically for China.
Samsung is expected to announce this device rather soon, maybe even in the next couple of days, so stay tuned for that. We still don’t have any information when will this device reach other markets, but we will let you know as soon as we get some information regarding that.
