Both Of The GPE HTC One Devices May Be Receiving Android Lollipop Tomorrow

Well folks, it looks like the wait may finally be over for Google Play Edition HTC One M7 and M8 users, come Monday. We are, of course, talking about the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop for both of these devices. Yes, you read that right, Mo Versi, the VP of Product Management at HTC, tweeted a little earlier today that if Google approves the software tomorrow, users would have it that night. This means that the Lollipop update is now depending completely on Google.

Be sure to take this news of a Lollipop update with a grain of salt though, this update for both of the GPE HTC One devices has already been delayed twice. Mo Versi, back on November 14th told a user on Twitter that the update would be rolling out on November 17th, this was delayed. He later tweeted that the software update would be available on November 21st, you guessed it, that update was delayed as well. Now, here we are on November 30th being given another date for the software update, with what has happened so far it is difficult to have faith in this information. It is especially hard to hope for due to the fact that the reason the second date was not met was because Google hat yet to approve it, the exact situation that could very well delay this update date.

We here, at Android Headlines, like to be a bit more positive than that, so we are going to take this third update date to be true. When Google approves the Android 5.0 Lollipop update tomorrow afternoon, Mr. Versi has said that it will then be pushed to users within a few hours of that happening. This could very well mean that the update will begin rolling out tomorrow night at some point. You poor Google Play Edition HTC One users will finally be able to experience the greatness that is Android Lollipop on your devices… hopefully.

We want to take a minute to emphasize that this Lollipop update will only be for Google Play Edition HTC Ones, not the regular HTC One devices which come with Sense UI pre-installed. Unfortunately, you folks with a carrier branded HTC One will have to wait for your carriers to push the update individually.
