LG has been doing great as far as smartphone sales go. Unlike Samsung, LG has managed to increase its profit and marketshare significantly according to the latest results. Considering these results, you might wonder why LG replaced their head of mobile, Dr. Jong-Seok Park. Well, you might recall that he was replaced by Juno Cho because Dr. Park has been suffering from health issues, unfortunately. Juno Cho might be ready to make its first big decision after his appointment, at least according to the latest reports from Korea. According to that report, LG decided to kill the G Pro series in order to focus on the LG G4 development.
This might seem like a weird move by LG, at least to some extent, but this might mean G Pro 2 sales haven’t been going as well as LG has hoped. We do, however, know that the G3 sales have been going extremely well and LG seems to be ready to completely focus on company’s flagship handset. Both of these handsets are beastly devices, though the G Pro 2 was launched somewhat earlier than the G3 and sports a lower-res (and yet bigger) display along with a Snapdragon 800 SoC, compared to the G3’s Snapdragon 801 processor. LG G3 is actually considered a smartphone despite the fact it sports a 5.5-inch display, probably thanks to its extremely thin bezels which make it really compact. The G Pro series is actually a phablet series and the G Pro 2 sports a 5.9-inch display.
Keep in mind that previous rumors have reported that the G Pro 3 will be announced in Q1 2015 featuring LG’s very own NUCLUN processor, so this latest report actually seems a bit odd. It remains to be seen if the latest rumor is actually legit or will LG launch the G Pro 3 after all.
