Good news for Moto 360 lovers and users of Bell’s network in Canada – our source tells us through a tipster that TELUS will no longer be the exclusive seller of the popular Android Wear smartwatch. Bell is expected to start selling it by mid-December, but like all dates, this could change. We would think that Bell would want to start selling the Moto 360 for a possible Christmas gift purchase. Bell is expected to match, or come very close, to the $280 price that TELUS is charging for their Moto 360.
The Moto 360 will help bolster its rather small selection of wearables – Sony’s SmartWatch 2, SmartBand and Samsung’s Gear 2. There is no word on whether the Moto 360 will be sold only online or also sold in the stores…where it should be displayed for potential customers to actually hold the smartwatch. Sometimes a picture may be worth a thousand words, but actually handling the device is worth a sale. We all know what a smartphone basically feels like, but some of us have never even held a smartwatch. Besides, a smartphone goes in your pocket and a smartwatch actually fits on your wrist, which is much more of a personal purchase.
The Moto 360 runs Android Wear and to truly get the most from your experience, you will need to own any Android smartphone that runs Android 4.3 or higher. The round display – a departure from the usual rectangle – is 1.56-inches with a 320 x 290 resolution backlit LCD covered by Gorilla Glass 3 to help avoid any scratches. The Moto 360 feels like a ‘real’ watch and comes with a genuine leather band that is completely interchangeable for you own favorite metal or leather band. It is cast from stainless steel with a 46mm diameter and a height of 11.5mm and weighs in at only 49 grams. The Moto 360 is also certified IP67 for water resistance – a half of an hour under water at about 1 meter – and is fine for a quick swim or shower.
