Report: Oppo R1C To Feature A Sapphire Glass Back Panel

Back in October, Oppo released 2 new handsets, Oppo N3 and R5. The N3 model is company’s newest flagship handset and a successor to Oppo N1, we still don’t know why they skipped the N2 branding. Oppo N3 definitely took the spotlight while the R5 was there along for the ride, though the Oppo R5 has some tricks of its own, and by tricks, I mean specific factors which differentiate it from the rest. Oppo R5 is a rather well specced device, but more on that later. The most notable thing about this device and at the same time its differentiating factor is its thickness, this handset is only 4.85mm thin, which is just insane. This makes the Oppo R5 the thinnest smartphone on this planet, though it might not be for long, Vivo seems to be ready to launch the Vivo X5 Max which will allegedly be only 4.75mm thin, though that’s not exactly that much of a difference. The drawback of such a thin device is the space inside for internals and especially battery, Oppo managed to include only a 2,000mAh unit, which might not be enough to provide you with a decent battery life considering this is a 5.2-inch 1080p display we’re talking about here. The battery results are not in just yet, so we’ll have to wait with such remarks though.

Anyhow, a few days ago, a certain Oppo handset was certified by TENAA, codenamed R8207. We were able to find out its specifications thanks to the document, but more on that later. Now we have a few images to share with you and some additional information about the device itself. Oppo R8207 will be called Oppo R1C, at least according to this report. This handset will also feature a sapphire glass back panel, which is rather interesting, I can’t think of another handset which features a similar panel on the back, though we did see a sapphire glass front panel and a couple of camera sensors were covered with such glass. Oppo R1C will feature a 5-inch 720p display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. 13 and 5-megapixel cameras will also be included, on the back and the front side of the device, respectively. This handset will be powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. Considering the fact Oppo R1C is already certified, we can expect it to launch rather soon, most certainly before the end of the year.
