Samsung Galaxy A5 Now Available In Russia for $440

Samsung are known for releasing a bunch of smartphones every year. In fact, they release so many that it almost seems like a monthly thing now. That said, two devices (three actually although we will forget about the A7 for now) have caught the attention of consumers. These are the Samsung Galaxy A3 and A5. The A range is Samsung’s first attempt at an all-metal device. The Samsung Galaxy Alpha and Samsung Galaxy Note 4 were metal-like with a metal rim, but these ones are all metal. That said, these devices are also attracting news headlines as they seem to be a long time coming. The A range was officially announced by Samsung at the end of October and it was presumed they would be generally released soon after. It was thought that China would be the first place they would land in stores.

However, it seems there have been massive issues with the manufacturing of these devices. Presumably because they are metal and Samsung are effectively in new territory here. In regards to the Samsung Galaxy A5 in particular, as little as a couple of days ago it was reported that the A5 won’t land in China until the middle of December. What’s interesting though is that the A5 seems to have today gone on sale in Russia. The device is now being reported (source Link below) to be available both in-store and through the Russian Samsung site. In terms of the piece the A5 is up for RUB 23,990 which equates to roughly $440. This seems to be generally in line with the $420 price the device is expected to sell for in China. There is no further news at the moment on when (and if) the A5 will land in Europe although it is expected early(ish) 2015.

If you need a reminder on the A5 then the device comes with a 5″ display with a 1280 x 720 resolution. Inside the A5 offers 2GB RAM and a quad-core processor (clocked at 1.2GHz). There is 16GB internal storage as well as a microSD card slot (up to 64GB). Camera-wise, the A5 comes with a 13MP rear shooter and a 5MP front facing camera. Additional features include a 2,300mAh battery and running on Android 4.4 (KitKat). Not forgetting the device is all-metal remember.
