When Samsung released the Galaxy Alpha, many of us thought this was just the start of a new line of devices from Samsung, and we were right. Since then, we’ve heard about the Galaxy A3, the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7. The first two of those devices, the A3 and A5 have been officially announced by Samsung, but the more powerful and larger Galaxy A7 has yet to be outed by the Korean giant. Now though, a fresh leak has revealed what could be the specs of the larger, 5.5-inch Galaxy A7.
SamMobile have apparently gotten their hands on the entire spec sheet for the Galaxy A7, and the 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display is to feature a 1080p Full HD display, and they’ve said that all markets should get this version of the device. Under the hood, we’re looking at the Exynos 5433, which is an Octa-Core CPU made of four Cortex-A57 cores at 1.8 Ghz and four Cortex-A53 at 1.3 Ghz. For those of you not familiar with the Exynos 5433, this is the same chip that powers the Galaxy Note 4 in certain markets, and should outperform the Snapdragon 615 which is also rumored to land in another variant of the Galaxy A7. Where memory and storage is concerned, there’s supposed to be 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. A rear-facing 13-megapixel camera will be joined by a 2-megapixel front-facing, and the whole show will be running Android 4.4 KitKat and be powered by a 2,600 mAh battery.
With no idea just when the Galaxy A7 is going to launch, it could be that Samsung is looking to give the Galaxy Note 4 and other devices a little distance. However, we can’t imagine a launch before the end of the year all that likely. After all, 2014 is fast drawing to a close and getting devices into retail channels this late in the year will be difficult for anyone. Early 2015 seems more likely, but the question is whether or not people will pay the premium for the Galaxy A7, rather than spending a little extra and getting the superior Galaxy Note 4.
