We reported the third week in November that the new Moto Hint would be sold in Canada, on TELUS sometime in early December…well, that time has finally arrived. You can go to the TELUS website – click our link below – and you will find it available in black only for $165. While the website does not go into much detail, except to say that, “Moto Hint is a discreet wireless earbud designed to look good and feel great. It gives you complete control of your phone and allows you to access everything you need by just using your voice.”
The Moto Hint, an actual Bluetooth earbud was designed to be discreet, and while it can be used to listen to music through, it was primarily designed to be used for talking on the phone, receiving turn-by-turn commands, listening to voicemails, emails, text or notifications. It will work with any smartphone with enabled Bluetooth and will initiate calls or commands through either Siri or Google Now, but it really is amazing when used with a Moto X and its ‘always on’ listening feature. All of the commands and features found in the Moto X can be activated, completely hands-free, through your Moto Hint.
The Moto Hint is a pretty amazing piece of technology, although it does come with a BIG price tag, although when you think of how much you can spend on a good set of earplugs or headsets, I guess $165 is not too bad. My major disappointment is that in order to get great music quality, you would have to invest in a separate accessory. There is actually a sensor in the Moto Hint earbud that knows that it has been inserted into your ear and turns on automatically, just as when you remove it, the device will turn itself off. There is also a very sensitive microphone in the Moto Hint that can discern the users voice even in a noisy environment. The battery is designed to work between 4 to 6 hours on a charge – but here comes another engineering feat…the portable docking station can hold an additional two charges before it needs charged! This will insure a full days worth of use as long as you carry the charging dock with you.
