Xiaomi is all over the news recently, this China-based company released their Redmi 2 handset on January 4, but they’re expected to release one or two more additional devices this month. The Redmi 2 is a great mid-range device which is a perfect successor to company’s Redmi 1S handset which was selling like crazy every since it launched. Xiaomi is getting ready to launch their new flagship though, something their CEO announced will happen this month, but that might not be all though. Xiaomi has teased the launch of an extremely thin (sub-5mm) handset as well, which might be unveiled this month as well. Some leaks suggested that the handset will sport a 2,000mAh battery, run Android 5.0 Lollipop and be powered by a Snapdragon 615 SoC. Take that info with a pinch of salt though.
Either way, we expect to see at least the company’s new flagship on January 15, unless Xiaomi decides to launch it on some other date, which I doubt, because they will hold an event on that date, will livestream it as well. Anyhow, we have some new Mi5-related information to share with you. A new leak surfaced, allegedly showing off the Mi5’s case, courtesy of Zimexport. If you take a look at the gallery below this article, you’ll notice a bunch of images which allegedly show the case for Xiaomi Mi5, don’t mind the image of the phone though, it’s only a reference paper / cardboard which is located in there. If this leak is legit, the Mi5 will have a headphone jack on the top, while both the volume rocker and a power on/off button will be located on the right side of the phone. MicroUSB port will be located at the bottom and the device might have an infrared sensor judging by the cutout on the top of the device (middle portion), although this could end up being a cutout for the noise-cancelling microphone.
We cannot verify that this case is legit, it’s just a rumor, so as usual, take this info with a pinch of salt. January 15 is close though, only a week away, we’ll probably find out everything soon.
