Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OTA Update Allegedly Reaching Moto G (2014) Devices In The US

Motorola did a great job in 2014, the company has released a couple of really compelling devices. Their 2nd-gen Moto X and Moto G devices are extremely popular, and this company also released the first round Android Wear-powered smartwatch, which is by many still regarded as the best looking (Android Wear) smartwatch available. Motorola Moto G (international) started receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop update even before the older Nexus devices, and it looks like the 5.0.2 update is on its way as well.

Android 5.0.2 Lollipop was pushed to the Nexus 7 (2012) about a month ago, and it looks like this update is hitting Moto G (2014) devices in the U.S. now. The 5.0.2 update doesn’t bring any big changes, those are mostly bug fixes, just like it was the case with Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. Google had to deal with many issues after the release of Android Lollipop, as it’s the case with every new major OS update. Android 5.0.1 fixes the alarm function of the OS, it makes sure that the OS will wake up the CPU when the alarm is scheduled, there were some bugs in that department in the original update. TRIM process has also been re-worked, what is TRIM? That’s a process which deletes files in the phone’s storage when it’s charging making sure the NAND flash doesn’t get bogged down by unimportant stuff. TRIM basically cleans your device and makes it run smooth, we’ve talked about this a while ago when it was introduced with Android 4.3 JellyBean, Google just tweaked it in the 5.0.1 update.

Motorola Moto G (2014) features a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS LCD display along with 1GB of RAM and 8 or 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card up to 32GB). This handset is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz and an Adreno 305 GPU. 2,070mAh battery ships with this device and Android 4.4.4 KitKat comes out of the box, before you update it, of course. 8-megapixel camera is available on the back of this handset, and a 2-megapixel shooter is included in the front for your selfies and videocalls. Motorola Moto G measures 141.5 x 70.7 x 11mm and weighs 149 grams. Let us know if you got the 5.0.2 update yet.
