A ton of Xiaomi rumors, leaks and news surfaced today. This China-based company has already launched their extremely affordable Redmi 2 handset on January 4, but they will launch their flagship handset this month as well. Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun, confirmed earlier that they will launch the Mi4 successor on January 15, but we still don’t know how will they name it, the Mi4S or the Mi5. We’ve heard it both ways, many times thus far, some leaks are saying it will be called the Mi4S, others however, are more prone to the Mi5 naming scenario. Anyhow, let’s get down to it.
The alleged Mi5 case surfaced yesterday, and today that very same case popped up from a different source. If you take a look at the gallery down below, you’ll notice a bunch of images showing of this alleged Mi5 case. The volume rocker and a power button are located on the right side of the phone, 3.5mm headphone jack is on the top along with a cutout in the middle which could be reserved for an IR blaster (like it was in the Mi4). The loudspeaker is located at the bottom of the phone and next to it you’ll notice the microUSB charging port. If you take a look at the back of this case, you’ll notice a camera cutout in the upper right corner.
This leak isn’t all that interesting on its own, but this case seem to fit the leaked Mi4S 3D schematics which popped up earlier today. Every port is in the right place and the case seems to fit the general design of this device. Does this mean Xiaomi will release the Mi4S and not the Mi5? That actually makes sense in a way, it’s been only approximately half a year since the company launched the Mi4, so… anyhow, who knows, the event will take place on January 15 and we’ll find out everything then. I’m sure we’ll see many more rumors / leaks in the next 6 days, so, get ready. What are your thoughts here, do you think the 3D schematics are spot on and this is the device Xiaomi will launch?
