Not exactly what you would call a new device – the LG G3 was officially launched in Canada on August 1 and is already widely available on most Canadian carriers. With little ado, Fido has added it to their list of available devices for $150 on a two-year Tab24 agreement on a Smart plan, $280 with a two-year Tab24 on a Standard plan, $600 on a no-term agreement or $600 on a prepaid plan. Rogers has the same device for as low as $49.99 on select two-year plans that start at $70 a month. Although, if you are already a Fido customer, you can get the new LG G3 for only $50 when you renew on a two-year Tab24 Agreement on an in-market Max plan ( a one-time hardware upgrade administration fee applies).
The LG G3 was one of the most anticipated devices of 2014 – mostly because of the Quad HD display that we so anxious to see. There was also much anticipation that the LG G3 might also include a metal back – all photos gave that indication. That metal back ended up being a plastic shell with a metallic-like finish, but it was still a well-built and solid device. The LG G3 also has some of the smallest bezels we have seen on any smartphone, even to this day, and that helps make the device small enough to fit comfortably in your hand.
The LG G3 sports a 5.5-inch Quad HD (QHD) display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and an astonishing 538 pixels-per-inch (PPI). It uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded via a microSD card. It has a great camera – 13MP sensor with a dual-tone LED flash, OIS+ and their new Laser Autofocus system for fast and precise focusing on each photo. It uses a 2.1MP front-facing camera (FFC) for social media selfies and video chatting. Power is supplied by a nicely sized 3000mAh battery. It also comes with wireless charging, an IR Blaster and an FM Stereo Radio.
