We have already been talking today about how HTC seems to like attacking the mid-range smartphone market. This was due to the ever increasing range of Desire devices the Taiwan company seems to be releasing. If you missed the news earlier than HTC unveiled another Desire family member in the guise of the HTC Desire 826. This mid-range device came with a 64-bit Snapdragon processor and a couple of 13MP cameras.
Well, following on from that news, it now seems that HTC’s war on the mid-range is actually starting to pay off as the company have today published their latest quarterly results and it is good news for the company. In fact, it is extremely good news for HTC. According to the figures, HTC published its first quarterly revenue growth in over three years. This is the first time that they have seen such growth since way back in the third quarter of 2011. This is largely being seen as a direct result of its mid-range devices which have recently made a successful impact on the competition who tend to offer more expensive flagship models.
According to the results, the fourth quarter sales for HTC came in at NT$47.9 billion. To put this into perspective, this is an increase of roughly NT$1.5 billion from the same quarter in the year before, in which HTC managed only NT$42.9 billion. On top of this, it seems the company can also boast a net income of roughly NT$258 million more than had previously been expected from outside analyst predictions. To further add to the disproving of the analyst predictions, HTC also posted an NT$180 million operating profit for the fourth quarter of last year. This is in a stark contrast to the estimation by analysts that they would end the fourth quarter resulting in a loss of NT$30.4 million. So, it seems the moves HTC are making are good moves. We might just see an abundance of mid-range devices hitting the market but it actually seems they have a bigger endgame in motion. Are you an HTC user? What do you think of the news? Not much of a surprise to you? Let us know.
