As January draws itself to a close, Mobile World Congress is just around the corner and with some of the biggest names in the mobile world in attendance, it already looks set to be an exciting week of mobile news. Huawei is a company that really shows up for MWC each year, with masses of floor space taken up by the Chinese giant and they often use MWC to launch their new products into the public eye and it’s rumored that this year, Huawei will be using the event to announce new tablets and new wearable tech, with an Android Wear watch a possible highlight.
The Chinese giant has recently confirmed its plans for 2015 during a brand strategy meeting in Shenzen, China and unsurprisingly a slide has ended up on the web. Said slide can be seen below and offers us an insight into products they’ll be announcing during the show at the end of next month. There’s talk of a tablet or perhaps even two being announced during the event, and while the slide doesn’t mention any specifics it does look like Huawei is to dump the ‘Ascend’ moniker from their devices. The Mate series, P series, Honor series and G/Y series are all listed on the slide, with no mention of the Ascend name anywhere. We’re all expecting them to launch the P8 during MWC, a successor to the fairly popular Ascend P7 which delivered a nice blend of features and affordability complete with 4G.
As for wearables, Huawei’s Talkband B1 is already available for purchase in much of the world, but there’s more on the way, with an Android Wear watch spotted in the slide. The watch itself is hard to make out, but it looks like a round watch that could give the G Watch R and the Moto 360 some much needed competition. As Huawei is a company keen to focus on affordable pricing where these devices are concerned, this could be a watch for those that can’t bring themselves to pay Motorola’s or LG’s prices.
