Lenovo Vibe Xtension Selfie Flash Is A Rechargeable Flash For Your Smartphone

Lenovo announced the Vibe X2 Pro smartphone, the P90 smartphone, and the Vibe Band wearable today at CES 2015. They aren’t done yet, though. Oh no, we still have one more Lenovo announcement for you. The Vibe Xtension selfie flash is a smartphone-compatible external flash that plugs into your headset jack and increases the light available for you when you are taking selfies. We suppose you could use the Vibe Xtension for taking other photos as well. Lenovo is pairing the Xtension selfie flash with their new Vibe X2 Pro smartphone that has a front-facing 13-megpixel camera, along with a 13-megpixel camera on the back. The Xtension selfie flash works with any Android smartphone that has “compatible software”. We’re not sure if that means Lenovo is releasing an app to go along with the Xtension flash or if it will only work with Lenovo phones. Here’s what Lenovo has to say about the Xtension selfie flash:

“A plug-in VIBE Xtensionâ„¢ selfie flash can be used with your VIBE X2 Pro, and other Android smartphones with compatible software, to capture yourself in low light conditions or give a more natural tone to your selfies. Eight white LED bulbs in a ring formation to create even diffused light at over a one meter radius.”

It’s designed to be easy to use. Just plug it in to the top (or bottom) of your phone and you’ll be ready to go. With the compatible software, the flash will synchronize with your camera shutter. The flash is rechargeable, getting up to 100 shots before it needs to be recharged. Like the other Lenovo stuff that was announced today, the Xtension selfie flash won’t be coming to the U.S. You can get one in overseas markets starting in April for $29.
