Unlike Xiaomi, Meizu still hasn’t announced new hardware this year, but that will change tomorrow. The company has already sent out invitations for their “Connected” press conference that will be held in Beijing. This China-based company is expected to announce the M1 Mini smartphone (or whatever the decide to call it) which will, according to reports, support only Chinese network bands unfortunately. This handset has already leaked several times, and the latest leak appeared yesterday. That’s not all though, the company is expected to announce something else. They have already teased connections with AKG (Austrian audio company), Opera Browser And Chat App Pei Wo, which means this Chinese smartphone OEM might be announcing partnerships with other companies tomorrow as well. Additional hardware is also a possibility though, so tune in tomorrow and see what will Meizu announce.
That being said, the aforementioned M1 Mini device has popped up on GFXBench, revealing its possible specifications. Alright, so, first of all, this specs info has surprised us. It was originally said that the phone will have the identical specs to the M1 Note, but will sport a smaller (perhaps lower-res) display, but it seems that’s not the case, at least not according to GFXBench. The benchmarking site reports that this device will be powered by MediaTek’s MT6732 SoC, a 64-bit quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, along with 1GB of RAM and will sport a 4.7-inch 720p (1280 x 768) display. This is completely different than what we originally though, the M1 Note is powered by MediaTek’s MT6752 octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz and ships with 2GB of RAM and a 5.5-inch 1080p display. It seems like the M1 Mini will not only be a smaller version of the M1 Note, but also a lower-end version of that phone. This device might be a direct competitor to Xiaomi’s recently released Redmi 2 handset, and you can expect an extremely low price point for this device.
GFXBench’s listing also reveals that the M1 Mini will come with Android 4.4.4 KitKat pre-installed and that it will ship with 8GB of internal storage. As I said, you can expect an extremely affordable device to launch tomorrow if this listing is to be believed, it will probably be priced around 700 Yuan ($112). The event will take place at 2:30PM (local time).
