Meizu surprised many people in 2014. This Chinese smartphone manufacturer released not one, but three great devices last year. Meizu MX4 was the first one, and it launched in September. Meizu MX4 Pro and M1 Note followed, in November and December, respectively. All three of these devices are extremely affordable considering what they offer. The MX4 and the MX4 Pro were basically Meizu’s flagship handsets when they launched, and the M1 Note is marketed as the perfect mid-range handset, which it basically is, you’ll hardly get a more capable mid-range handset for that amount of money.
Well, AnTuTu benchmark site released its list of the top scoring Android smartphone for 2014, and Meizu’s MX4 handset is at the top of that list. This Chinese smartphone is powered by MediaTek’s octa-core MT6595 processor and it has an average score of 47,765 on AnTuTu. As you all know, AnTuTu tests CPU, GPU, RAM, UX and I/O of every phone that runs the app and then gives you an overall score in the end. This is a somewhat surprising results, even though benchmarks really don’t represent how well the phone is performing, but it’s some sort of indicator at the very least. Let’s check out the rest of this list, shall we. Google’s Motorola-made Nexus 6 handset is placed second with an average score of 47,079. Samsung Galaxy Alpha and Samsung Galaxy Note 4 are placed 3rd and 4th, and have scored 45,817 and 44,669 respectively. OnePlus One took the 5th spot on this list, this Cyanogen-powered Chinese smartphone scored an average results of 44,516. Interesting enough, seven out of these ten smartphone are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors, which only shows the dominance of Qualcomm these days.
