Micromax is no stranger to releasing a number of Android smartphones in quick succession, but their latest release should definitely appeal to fans of Samsung’s Super AMOLED displays, but find themselves unable to swallow the expensive price tags Samsung devices often carry. The Canvas Hue from Micromax is designed as a decent all-rounder with a quality screen to complete the whole package and while this is no Galaxy S5 or Galaxy Note 4, the RS 10,999 price tag makes it instantly more approachable to a lot of users in India.
With a 5-inch 1280 x 720 AMOLED display, the Canvas Hue promises to deliver a quality viewing experience and the 1.3 Ghz quad-core CPU with 1GB of RAM should deliver decent performance at this sort of price. It’s the 3,000 mAh battery that should attract users to the device though, coupled with an AMOLED display, this is a device that should last you through the day and then some. There’s an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with a 2-megapixel front-facing camera along with 8GB of expandable storage, too. Interestingly, while Android 4.4 KitKat is listed as the Android version at launch, Micromax is promising an update to Android 5.0 Lollipop, something I’m sure a lot of users will wait to see happen before they purchase the Canvas Hue.
Commenting on the new device launch, Vineet Taneja, CEO of Micromax, had this to say about the headlining AMOLED display: “With an AMOLED HD screen, users are guaranteed of a life-like viewing experience through more vivid colors and a crystal clear display. The Canvas Hue is a perfect blend of premium design, seamless efficiency and superior technology that supports the needs of the ever evolving consumers.” He also touched on the extended battery saying that they tried to address “one of the most important needs of the Indian consumer” and were inclined to agree with him. With an AMOLED display and a spacious battery, this looks like one of the more understandable launches from Micromax in quite some time.
Launching at RS 10,999, Micromax’s Canvas Hue will be available throughout India starting January 16th.
