Nest has been an extremely popular gadget even before Google acquired the company, but their popularity skyrocketed afterwards. This smart thermostat got so much publicity after the deal was closed it’s insane. Nest is constantly pushing their product forward and is trying to make it compatible with anything and everything. The company has announced a new set of partners at CES in Las Vegas, so let’s see what’s this all about.
The company has announced “Nest Initiative” last year, which basically allowed companies to connect their gear to this smart thermostat. Nest has started reaping the benefits of that initiative considering more and more companies are becoming Nest’s partners in a way. 15 new partners have joined Nest’s cause: August smart lock, Automatic driving assistant, Insteon, LG appliances, Lutron, Ooma Telo, Philips Hue, Unikey / Kevo smart lock, Withings Aura sleep system. As you can see, there are some big names included in this list, like LG and Philips Hue. These partnerships are making Nest smarter by the day, this smart thermostat can now heat up your home when you’re getting close to it with your car for instance, presuming you have Automatic hooked up to your ride of course. LG’s smart appliances are also a great example, they can turn on energy-saving mode when you leave your house, when Nest spots that you’re leaving your house that is. There are a ton more examples here, but you get the point. There are various way that you can take advantage of integrations like this, depending on which gadgets you use in your household of course.
