The HTC Nexus 9 tablet, Google’s next generation tablet in the Nexus line which officially launched towards the end of last year has been widely available from a selection of different outlets here in the U.S., and in some other regions, and now in the U.K. the Nexus 9 will soon be available on the O2 carrier network. Subscribers of O2 whether new or existing will be able to grab their very own Nexus 9 tablet beginning Monday, January 19th, without a two-year contract and an applicable data plan. If you sign up for the agreement and add the data plan this tablet will need to run off the network, you’ll able to purchase it for just £29.99.
That’s not a bad price considering what the full retail cost of the tablet is out of pocket if you bought it outright from Google or another vendor. Keep in mind though that instead of paying an upfront cost for the Nexus 9 itself, you’ll be supplementing that for a monthly cost of the data plan it’s going to be tied to plus the evenly spread out monthly payments of the remaining tablet cost. If you were planning on picking up the LTE model so you could use it off of LTE or WiFi anyway, then you might as well save yourself some up front cash and grab it at O2 for a fraction of the cost.
The plans that go along with these start at £32 which gets you 3GB of data a month to use. You can also bump that up to as much as 8GB if you need more than what the starter package is going to offer. As we stated above the Nexus 9 will cost customers as low as £29.99 but O2 is offering the tablet at this cost with a no contract plan, so the remaining cost of the Nexus 9 LTE model is split up over your monthly bill in 24 payments. This means you’re still paying full cost for the tablet but just not all at once and up front. They’re also offering the tablet on their refresh tariff, so you’ll be able to upgrade to a newer device at the end of the year if you pay off the remaining tablet payments first. We couldn’t find out whether or not O2 will offer the capability to pick this device up at a discounted cost or not with a 2-year agreement, or what colors they’ll have on hand come Monday, but we suppose there’s only a few more days to wait before we learn those details.
