OnePlus have had an almost unparalleled year over the last twelve months. In fact, this time last year, very few people knew who the company was and now one year later it seems all eyes are on every move they make. OnePlus launched their OnePlus One back in June of last year in a handful of countries and since then the device has grown in popularity. Outside of the launch countries, India was quick to show its interest and OnePlus responded in kind by releasing the One in India, back at the start of December. The Indian launch was a bit bumpy due to unfortunate circumstances, but either way it did arrive.
The latest news is that OnePlus have announced their next major move will be to Indonesia. OnePlus announced today on their blog that the One is coming to Indonesia and will be available to purchase starting from next month. What makes this launch even more interesting, is that you will not need an invite to purchase the One. Instead, the device will go on general sale through their exclusive partnership with Lazada Indonesia, the largest online shopping portal in Indonesia. In terms of how much, for the 64GB sandstone the price will be set at Rp 4,499,000 (which equates to just over $360). This price seems to tally with what we are seeing with OnePlus in general and the company’s attempt to stick to a consistent price regardless of region. The announcement also hinted that unlike other regions, Indonesia customers (through the partnership with Lazada) will be able to enjoy walk-in centres across the country for a direct customer service and after sales orientated experience.
It is not surprising that OnePlus have opted for Indonesia as their next big market to attack. Indonesia is accredited with some of the biggest potential growth in the smartphone market due to a general population primed for a smartphone like the OnePlus One. In fact, many analysts predict that in the years to come, Indonesia will quickly become one of the biggest markets for smartphones in the world. If you are based in Indonesia and want to get hold of the One, then as mentioned you will not need an invite to buy. Although, there are no firm dates for the sale and shipping of the One, OnePlus have announced that you will be able to pre-order your One beginning January 27th.
