Pre-Orders for Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Now at Best Buy for Rogers and Bell

We fully expected Samsung to announce their new Galaxy Note 4 at IFA in September 2014.  There were rumors that Samsung might show off a curved display phone as well, but nobody expected them to be ready to actually launch their new Galaxy Note Edge.  It came out shortly after the Galaxy Note 4 and was also a limited distribution.  At $400 a pop in the US, there will not be a long line forming for this great phablet.  We are happy to announce that the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is now available for pre-order at Best Buy in Canada – although no price or delivery time was announced.  We expect that Rogers and Bell will start taking their own pre-orders any day now.

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge gives you all of the benefits of the Galaxy Note 4 and adds the curved display for even more possibilities.  It sports a 5.6-in Super AMOLED QHD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 x 160 pixels (curved edge) and 524 pixels-per-inch (PPI).  It uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor clocked at 2.7GHz or the Exynos 5433 octa-core clocked at 1.6GHz and 1.3GHz.  It comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory with a microSD card slot to add an additional 128GB of storage.

Samsung really improved the camera area in their Note devices – a 16MP sensor and autofocus, LED flash, included their own ISOCELL technology for better low-light shooting and now even included Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Live HDR shooting.  The 3.7MP front-facing camera (FFC) is a 120-degree wide-angled lens for great group social selfies or a boardroom video chat.  The 3000mAh battery is slightly less than the 3220mAh battery in the Galaxy Note 4 due to the curved display, but it will still give you a full-days’ worth of battery life and it benefits from Samsung’s Ultra Power Saving Mode (UPSM) and Quick Charge 2.0

The Note Edge has the usual Dual-Band Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, a MicroUSB v2.0 connector, but also adds VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling capabilities, an IR Blaster, three microphones, and Quick Charge 2.0, Download Booster, Fingerprint Scanner, Heart Rate Sensor, UV and Oxygen Saturation Sensor, all metal frame, LTE Cat 6 and the S-Pen and all of its features.  Right now, it is running 4.4.4 KitKat but could see the 5.0 Lollipop by the end of February or March.
