One of the most exciting events for a techie is purchasing a new smartphone and the second most exciting event is getting a new OS upgrade – even the small incremental ones are cause to party, but to jump from say 4.4.4 KitKat to 5.0 Lollipop, now that is cause for a real celebration. It is almost like getting another new device and it’s always fun to explore the new screens, icons and features. Other than a Nexus device, we are never too sure exactly when our device will be receiving its update, but we are happy to announce that the owner’s manual for the new Galaxy Note 4 is now available for download at our source’s link at the end of this article. That can only mean one thing – the update cannot be far behind.
The video and the gallery below will give you a good idea of what Android 5.0 Lollipop will look like on your new Galaxy Note 4. It certainly includes the Material Design that Google was looking for…could this mean that Samsung’s TouchWiz is finally getting out of the Gingerbread era and moving on to a more lag-free experience. Not only will it use the Material Design inspired UI, it will have the Lollipop-styled animated feedback and a revamped notifications area, and by adhering to these new guidelines we see the bright, solid colors throughout the UI. Many other areas, such as the Contacts, Dialer, messaging and others look fresh and new.
Rumors are out that Samsung will jump directly to Android 5.0.1, as it does have a few bug fixes and would be nice to see the Galaxy Note 4 receiving the latest version of Lollipop. Hopefully, the US versions will be getting their upgrade by the end of January or February at the latest. This would be considered a ‘fast’ turnaround time for Samsung and the carriers, considering the device was just released in the Fall.
Please hit us up on our Google+ Page and let us know if your are a Galaxy Note 4 user anxiously waiting for your 5.0 Lollipop upgrade or are you a Samsung user that would like to see the upgraded TouchWiz finally arriving…as always, we would love to hear from you.
