A couple of days ago Google started rolling out the feature for switching between accounts in the stable version of their ever popular Chrome browser, something will make it a whole lot easier to keep your tabs and features of Chrome organized between different users, especially if you have multiple people using the same computer. This also comes in handy though for anyone who has multiple Google accounts themselves, one being for personal, one perhaps for school and one for professional purposes. In these cases the account switcher is a dream come true in helping users to keep all their Chrome settings and tabs separated and organized.
If you haven’t updated Chrome to the latest version yet, then you won’t see the account switcher at all. This is assuming Chrome isn’t set to update to newer versions automatically, in which case you may have already noticed the little button with your name on it that sits in the top right corner next to the minimize button. Clicking on that little guy will open up a a small panel as shown in the image below, which allows you a few different options, including the capability to edit your account image, switch person, or go incognito. It’s simple, it’s quick, and you won’t have to worry about logging in or out of Chrome any time you need to switch accounts.
Hitting the incognito button simply opens a new incognito window much like you’d find from hitting that option Chrome control panel. Clicking on the switch person button brings up a new panel to allow you to add people into the account switcher or have people use Chrome as a “guest.” Guest mode keeps people from seeing any of your open Chrome tabs or history, or any other information, and when they’re done using Chrome any of their browsing history evaporates from your system. Chrome was already a great browser before, but with the account switcher available to everyone, it makes using a single computer for the household not as tedious as it once was. You also won’t have to to worry so much anymore about people snooping if you lend the use of your computer out to others.
