YU Yureka Is Now Available For Purchase In India For Rs. 8,999 ($145)

YU is Micromax’s new company which announced their first smartphone back in December. The Yu Yureka is a Cyanogen-powered device which offers a lot at the price the company is asking for it. You might recall that Cyanogen and Micromax agreed on an exclusive partnership in India, which affected OnePlus directly, it meant that Chinese company cannot sell their OnePlus One handsets in India anymore. OnePlus and Cynoagen haven’t exactly been best buddies lately, and OnePlus is working on its own OS as we speak, which we’ll probably see included in their OnePlus Two handset which is due to launch in the next couple of months.

That being said, YU Yureka is now available for purchase in India. You can get this handset from Amazon India for Rs. 8,999 ($145), the phone is unlocked and ready to go. In case you’re intersted and live in India, just follow the source link down below and you’re good. YU Yureka features a 5.5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card). This handset is powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon octa-core processor and an Adreno 405 GPU which is here for graphics rendering. 13-megapixel camera is located on the back of this device, and a 5-megapixel snapper is available up front. 2,500mAh battery ships with the device, and Android 4.4.4 KitKat comes pre-installed on this device with Cyanogen OS 11 on top of it. You’ll get a lot of customization options along with this OS, it’s Cyanogen after all, so if that’s you things, this device might fit you perfectly.

I believe that we’ll all agree that Rs. 8,999 ($145) is a really affordable price for this device, it will be interesting to see how well will it sell in India though. For those of you who live in India, are you interested in getting this device, did you already order a copy maybe? We’d love to hear what you have to say here, because it seems like Cyanogen managed to upset a lot of people recently with the OnePlus controversy and all.

EDIT / UPDATE: It took YU 4 seconds to sell out the 10,000 units that were available via Amazon India. The next flash sale will take place on January 22nd.
