Motorola Canada has just confirmed that the rollout of Android 5.0.2 Lollipop for the first generation of the Moto G – available on Virgin, TELUS, Koodo, Videotron, WIND and models sold as unlocked via retailer outlets – is now in full force. A small soak test was done last week and it went so well, they decided to send it out to all Moto G (first-generation) devices. The owners of the first generation Moto X and the Moto E are still waiting for their respective Lollipop updates, as well as Rogers, Fido and Videotron that released the 8GB Moto G LTE model, complete with microSD card slot. We are told the Motorola is working on them and we should hear some news shortly.
The OTA Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update is also widespread for the Motorola X 2014 model on WIND Mobile after a botched first attempt that brick a few customers devices. Motorola quickly worked with WIND Mobile to get those customers new devices, fix the problem, and reissued the update, which seems to be working just fine this time around. Motorola never did give out the reason what the problem was, but worked quickly to resolve any issues.
The new 64-bit Lollipop will carry Android into the future with a whole new look and increased functionality. Android can now power your watch to your Auto and every Android smartphone or tablet in between. Songs, photos apps and even your recent searches on one of your Android devices can now be immediately accessed across all of your Android devices. Google is using what they call, Material Design – with more fluid and purposeful motions with more tangible interactions. Everything is done in a more intuitive fashion. The right information is always there at the right moment, across all devices – you can even respond directly from the lock screen to an important message or notification. Lollipop includes battery saving features that can add up to 90 minutes, as well as having easy access to manage your device. Lollipop also offers more ways to secure your device and personal information via multi-user accounts. Many benefits work behind the scenes to give you a better user experience, but it is also visually exciting as well.
