Android 5.0 Lollipop Now Seeding To T-Mobile Galaxy S5 Users In The U.S.

Samsung is going to launch their new Galaxy S6 flagship on March 1st as part of MWC (Mobile World Congress) in Barcelona, but until they do that, the Galaxy S5 is still the company’s flagship smartphone (not counting the Galaxy Note 4 phablet, of course). That being said, the Galaxy S5 is still very much a great device with great specs, and is receiving Android 5.0 Lollipop already in certain markets. Well, TmoNews reports that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update has started rolling out for the T-Mobile (US) Galaxy S5 as well it seems.

A number of readers have sent in screenshots which prove that Lollipop has landed on their respective Galaxy S5 devices, as you can see in the gallery below this article. The update is almost 1GB in size, which is huge. You should be able to download it OTA (Over The Air), your smartphone will let you know when the update is available if you have that option enabled, if not, you can check for it manually. Just locate the update section in settings, and you’re good to go. If everything else fails, you can always try to update ti via Kies, though you’ll need to install in on your computer and hook up your device to it via cable. The Lollipop update will bring a number of features to your Galaxy S5 device, though the overall TouchWiz look won’t change all that much to be honest. Let us know if you got the update already, and please inform us if the device runs fine after the install or not.

The Galaxy S5 features a 5.1-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display along with 2GB of RAM and 16 or 32GB of expandable internal storage. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 quad-core processor is powering on this handset (though there’s also an Exynos variant out there) along with an Adreno 330 GPU. It runs Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat out of the box, sports a 2MP camera on the front, and has a 16MP auto-focus camera on the back with LED flash, the heart rate sensor is also located back there. The device is powered by a 2,800mAh battery, supports WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS, NFC, and 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE networks.
