Android Customization Weekly: ROMs, Themes, ROMs, Apps, ROMs, Widgets And More ROMs

Last week we saw some nice additions added to the wildly diverse custom world. Although, last week’s offers were a little more varied it seems ‘ROMs’ was the theme of the week this week with quite a number of both newbie ROMs landing and more known ROMs providing updates. So, let’s quickly check out what we have.

Mokee For The Motorola Moto G

If you own a Motorola Moto G then Mokee landed this week offering the Moto G users the option to install this Android 5.0.2 (Lollipop) running ROM. If you are into trying something new (and obviously have a Moto G) then you might want to give this one a go. Click the source link below to head over to the Mokee site for the ROM download and detailed installing instructions.

ViPER4Android Light And Dark Themes

Now, straight off of the bat there are two things to make clear here. Firstly, this is designed for the HTC One M8 but the OP on the link below does state that the theme seems to work fine on other devices and ROMs. It has been tested on Sense, GPe, AOSP and CM variants.  So, if you do encounter any problems then on your device then let the OP know. Other than that, this is a new theme to try out this week and comes in both a dark and light flavor and perfect if you like running ViPER4Android as your music driver. The second point to offer is that the OP of the source link did not develop the current themes. Other than that the images above are of the dark flavor. Click the link below to head over and see what’s on offer.

Grogg’s Way AOSP

Moving swiftly back to ROMs, up next we have Grogg’s Way AOSP a try. This another new ROM landing this week and is based on Android 5.0.2. This one is listed on Google’s Nexus 5 thread and as such will be compatible with the Nexus 5. Whether it is compatible with other devices as of yet, is unknown. Want to be the first to try? Then click the link below.

Xperia Z3 Clock Widgets

Stepping briefly away from ROMs again, a nice and sweet looking Xperia Z3 clock widget popped up this week. Now, this is not a new offering but the inclusion of more colors certainly is and as such you can now customize the color of the clock widget. Above are a few examples of what colors are on offer. Click the link below to find out more and download.

OmniROM Lollipop Update

Briefly back on ROMs again, it seems OmniROM outputted an update this week on their current status in regards to Android 5.0 (Lollipop). The update talks briefly about what Omni have now suspended Android 4.4 (KitKat) nightly updates and also where you can find information on the status of Lollipop for your device. If you are an Omni user then you might want to click the source link below and read the update in full.

Black Google Now Launcher and Black Calculator

This one has this week popped up on the Nexus 6 forums and as such will be designed for the Nexus 6. Whether or not it will work on non-N6 devices is unclear. That said, the closer to stock your current ROM is the more chance it might work. Not to mention that you do need to be running Android 5.+ (Lollipop) to get this working. Other than that, it is a sweet offering which simply turns your Google Now launcher and Calculator to black. Click the link below for installation and download instructions.

Kangapop

Back To ROMs again and this time we have Kanagpop. This ROM is being touted specifically for the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4 so not much wide appeal here. That said, you can always give it a try if you like, but do expect bad things to happen. Safer if you are expecting them. This offering is based on Android 5.0 and the LRX21P GPe build. This one comes with a ton of features including Material Design music player and the OnePlus One DSP audio feature. So if you fancy giving this on a try then hit the source link below.

Closing out the list today is probably the biggest news of all for the Custom world and came in right at the end of the week on Friday.
