Another Canadian Update: HTC One M7 Lollipop is Rolling Out

Canada mobile users are getting all kinds of good news today – HTC Canada just announced that that the Android Lollipop update was available for download across Canadian carriers for the One that started it all – HTC One M7.  As usual, these updates roll out at different times, but you can always check manually on your device via Menu ->> Settings ->> About device ->> Software update ->> Update.

It has been about four months since Lollipop made its debut and yet only a handful of devices have received the update – we announced earlier today that the first generation of Moto G, along with a push last week for the Moto X 2014, were receiving their Lollipop loving in Canada.  Overall, Lollipop 5.0 has barely made it on the charts as a percentage of Android devices sporting the new operating system.  This is such a shame, as the new Lollipop is one of the boldest updates in Android’s short history – it is polished, fast, smooth, fluid, instinctive, colorful, and more secure and battery friendlier.

So far for Canada – The Moto X 2013, the Moto G 2014, the Moto G LTE and Moto E are still waiting with no firm date given, but knowing Motorola, they are working on them and we should soon see more updates.  Samsung devices are still on hold in Canada – The Samsung Galaxy S5 was moved until March with the Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 4 to get theirs after the Galaxy S5.  With LG, we are still waiting for the LG G2 and LG G3 – the LG G2 is rolling out internationally and it has been confirmed that the LG G3 will be early 2015.  Of course, the LG Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 have already received their updates.  HTC has worked hard to get their One M8 and now their One M7 updated.  Sony is looking at a March update for the Xperia Z3 and an April update for the Xperia Z1.  They were hard at work fixing the hotspot issue on the Xperia Z3 and sending out the update for that problem.

Please hit us up on our Google+ Page and let us know when you receive your Lollipop update and what you think about it…as always, we would love to hear from you.
