AT&T Begins Rolling Out The Android Lollipop Update To Motorola Moto X 2014 Owners

A few days ago AT&T started soak testing the Android 5.0 Lollipop update on the 2014 version of the Motorola Moto X, and a mere four days later they have begun rolling out the software to users of the device on the network. This is good news for Moto X 2nd Gen. owners on AT&T. This of course is not the first variation of the Moto X 2014 that has received the update to Lollipop, as the unlocked model received the updates only a short time after Google started pushing out the software themselves back at the end of 2014. AT&T is usually one of the last carriers to get updates out to users for devices that are scheduled to get them, and one only need look at the Galaxy S5 as an example, as the other three major U.S. carriers here have already pushed out the update but AT&T has yet to do so.

As for the Moto X 2014 owners on AT&T, software updates don’t roll out to everyone at the same time so even though it appears AT&T has started to push the software to some users, it could take weeks to roll out to everyone on AT&T ‘s network that’s using a Moto X 2014. For those that may already be seeing it or are just generally curious, the Lollipop update software package is coming in at about 652.5MB in size, which is quite a bit so make sure your device has enough room for it. Secondly make sure you have at least 50%-75% battery life before you start to download the update. This is just our recommendation of course.

Lollipop comes with all sorts of software based goodies that users should look out for if they aren’t already aware of them, like the more constant use of animations, the trusted devices feature allowing you to unlock your phone when you come in proximity of trusted and connected devices like the Moto 360 for example, the lockscreen notifications, and the new interruptions settings for notifications allowing users to set notification interruptions to all, priority, or none. Those are all Lollipop wide changes but expect some Moto X 2014 specific changes to hit with the Lollipop update too, like updates to Moto Display and Ambient Display, as well as Moto Assist and downtime.
