Google Shows Us Love for Valentine's Day, $6 Movie Credit Offer on Chromecast

Google’s Chromecast is an absolutely superb piece of hardware that’s been catching on wildly since its debut on the market back in 2013.  The little stick that can has risen to the top in streaming stick sales, a category that just sounds bizarre when not used properly in context, and there are quite a few reasons for that.  First of all it’s cheap, simple and easy to use.  Secondly Google has consistently offered tons of free content, credits and all sorts of other promotional items to owners of Chromecasts.  Sometimes you need to be a new Chromecast owner to take advantage of the offers as was the case in December with the $20 Play Store Credit, but other times Google bestows its loyal fanbase with free stuff too.

That’s what it looks like is the case in this latest offer where Google wants to encourage users of the Chromecast to try out or continue to use its movie rental service.  What better timing to run such a promotion than the week leading up to Valentine’s day too?  Sometimes it just plain sucks going out to dinner and a movie on the big V-Day with all the crowds and hassle, so why not make a nice home-cooked meal or order in and enjoy a movie at home, all while Google picks up the tab for the movie portion of the evening?  Sounds like a great deal to me, and one that most Chromecast users should be able to take advantage of.

Simply head on over to Google’s Chromecast Offer page on a device that’s on the same network as your Chromecast.  You’ll need to agree to share your Chromecast ID with Google in order to view any offers available for you specifically, as this is used to validate things like how long you’ve had your Chromecast, when it was manufactured, what version of the OS you’re running, etc.  This sort of information doesn’t carry private data, as none is stored on the Chromecast itself anyway outside of WiFi access point information.  Once your information has been verified you should be able to apply the movie credit to your account, which will be done on the computer or phone you’ve used to access the Offer page.  Make sure to check the page periodically to see if Google has added anything, and we’ll always be sure to let you know as well just in case you forget.  Happy viewing!
