Motorola Pushing out Android 5.0.2 Soak Test the Moto E

Here’s another smartphone that’s about to get Android 5.0.2 very soon. Motorola has started rolling out their soak test for the Moto E, this isn’t available for everyone, just those in the Motorola Feedback Network. If you’ve been invited to the soak test (you know who you are, as you’ve communicated with Motorola), then you should be getting the update fairly soon. As long as everything goes well in the soak test, we should see Android 5.0.2 available for the Moto E in the very near future, as in about a week or less. If there are issues, then it might be a bit longer.

Where the Moto E isn’t available from any carriers (other than GSM MVNO’s) there’s really only one variant of the Moto E. So this update shouldn’t be limited to just one region, fortunately. We’ve been using Android 5.0 Lollipop on the Moto X (Droid Turbo doesn’t quite have it yet as the soak test hasn’t started to our knowledge), and it’s been running very well. Although battery life has been an issue, it’s not unusable like it is on some other smartphones getting the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop. As a reminder, if you have any issues with Android 5.0, do a factory reset. That will usually fix any issues that might arise.

A bit surprising to see the Moto E getting Android 5.0 Lollipop when Motorola has been having issues trying to get Lollipop to work flawlessly on the OG Moto X which uses a Snapdragon S4 Pro. Although we should see it hit the OG Moto X fairly soon as well, seeing as Motorola has been working on it for quite some time now.

For those of you with a Moto E, how many of you were invited to take part in the soak test for the device this time around? If you were invited, and get the OTA today, be sure to let us know in the comments down below.
