Just yesterday, we told you that WIND Mobile would start selling the new Nexus 6 smartphone on February 5, and true to their word, it is now available. They actually received their first shipment of the Nexus 6 back in December, but rather than put them out there for sale, they decided to throw a little fifth-year birthday party for themselves. Using its social media channels, they gave away 100 of the Nexus 6s to its original customers and fans, and a good time was had by all.
They now have a new shipment of Midnight Blue devices and are ready to begin selling the Nexus 6 to the public for as low as $299 on their WINDtab plan that will cost you $60 a month. It jumps to $399 on their $50 plan, and then to $549 on their $44, $40 or $35 plans, and you can buy it outright for $799. You can save up to $250 of instant in-store when you trade in your old device.
WIND Mobile’s $60 a month plan gives you just about everything you could ask for – Unlimited US Roaming, Canada/US-wide Calling, Global Texting, and even Unlimited Data. The $50 a month plan just eliminates the Unlimited US Roaming, and the $40 a month plan also eliminates the Unlimited US-wide Calling feature. Even the $35 a month plan gives you Unlimited Province-wide Calling, Canada-wide texting, Canada/US-wide Picture/Video Messaging and Unlimited Data. They are also still running a $44 a month Promo that ends soon. It gives you Unlimited Canada/US-wide Calling, Global Texting and Unlimited Data – all the same as the $50 plan – they just lowered the WINDtab amount from $400 to $250, but also give you a $10 per month in service credits for travel across Canada and the US or for other add-ons and extras.
Remember that the Nexus 6 is a huge change from the prior Nexus smartphones. It is physically larger all around and the specifications were all a boost over past years. It now sports a 6-inch QHD AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and 493 pixels-per-inch (PPI). This pushes the device size to 159.26 x 82.98 x 10.06 mm with a weight of 184 grams – not exactly designed for one-handed operation. For processing power they used the Qualcomm Snapdragon 32-bit 805 clocked at 2.7GHz, coupled to 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage…with no room for expansion. It packs a 3220mAh battery for power that will certainly get you through an entire day. The main camera is a 13MP with autofocus, a dual-LED Flash Ring that wraps around the lens, and even includes OIS. The front-facing camera (FFC) sizes in at 2MP, and will suffice for your social selfies or video chat.
