Rogers Announces the Nexus 9 (LTE-Enabled) Tablet for $669.99

As expected, Rogers now has the new LTE-enabled Nexus 9 in stock with pricing set at $669.99.  It is also in the Google Play Store for $669 – however, it is currently showing no inventory.  Now you can enjoy the power of 64-bit processing, Android 5.0 Lollipop and Rogers’ extensive 4G LTE coverage.

The Google Nexus 9 tablet, made by HTC, was officially announced on October 15, 2014 and went up for pre-order the next day in the US and a few days day later it could be pre-ordered at retailers like Best Buy.  Shipping did not start until November, so getting the LTE version of the Nexus 9 to Canada has taken a while.  Like the Nexus 6 this year, this the first time that a Nexus tablet comes with top-notch specs and built quality…and with that comes a higher price tag that former Nexus users were not used to paying.

The Google Nexus 9 is a great tablet, made for Google by HTC.  It retains the soft rubber-grip backing we have come to love on Nexus tablets.  It is a well-built device using a combination of metal and plastic…mostly, plastic…and is easy to grip and hold.  It comes with a 9-inch (okay 8.9-inch) QXGA IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and 288 pixels-per-inch (PPI).  Its processor is a Nvidia Tegra K1 64-bit dual-core clocked at 2.3GHz.  The Nexus 9 comes with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory (the model sold by Rogers) and there is no means for expansion.

The camera is a respectable – for a tablet – 8MP with autofocus and an LED flash – unheard of in a tablet.  It also sports a 1.6MP front-facing camera (FFC) for social media selfies and the occasional video chat.  It comes with a modest 6700mAh battery, which according to our hands-on review, is not one of the tablet’s best features.  It has the usual suspects – Dual-Band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, is NFC capable, and a microUSB port for charging and data transfer.  It does feature dual front-facing stereo speakers with HTC’s BoomSound.  It measures 228.2 x 153.7 x 7.9 mm and weighs in at 436 grams.  It is running the newest Lollipop and sports a couple of Rogers’ apps – MyRogers – Rogers One Number – Rogers Anyplace TV – and App Store.

Please hit us up on our Google+ Page and let us know if you will be picking up the LTE-enabled Nexus 9 at Rogers…as always, we would love to hear from you.
