Rogers Sony Xperia Z3 Lollipop Coming in March, Xperia Z1 in April, According to Leaks

For those of you in Canada that are awaiting the Lollipop update for the Sony Xperia Z3 or the Sony Xperia Z1, you’ve got a bit longer to wait. According to a leak obtained by The Xperia Blog. The Sony Xperia Z3 on Rogers is slated to get the Lollipop update in March with the Xperia Z1 on Rogers slated for April. Of course, this can change, and likely will. Still a bit later than we had hoped, but at least we know Sony is working on it, and it’s definitely better than hearing “Early 2015” or “in Q2”, right?

Both of these smartphones are currently running on Android 4.4.4 KitKat. They also have Sony’s skin on top, so many of you probably won’t even notice that there is a pretty large update to Android on these devices. But then again, we haven’t seen what Sony is planning on doing with Lollipop, so it’s tough to say. They could make it look more stock-ish, like HTC is doing with their Lollipop update for the HTC One M8, and M7.

Sony is a bit late to update the Xperia Z3 family of devices, but not last. We still haven’t seen much of anything from LG, and Samsung. Samsung has started rolling it out to the Galaxy S5 on two carriers, and that’s about it. Hopefully now that Sony is looking to release one smartphone a year, that we’ll see faster updates when new versions of Android come out. That’s really my only complaint with Sony smartphones right now.

How many of you in Canada and on Rogers are using the Sony Xperia Z3 or the Sony Xperia Z1? How many of you are excited to get Lollipop on your Xperia Z3 or Z1 in the near future? Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
