Samsung Galaxy S5 On Verizon Currently In The Progress Of Receiving Android 5.0 Lollipop Update

As we have been discussing over the last few days, the next couple of days and weeks are of quite a lot of importance to both users and manufacturers. Carriers too actually. That is because, just under ninety days ago, a number of the big names in the mobile industry announced that they will be releasing the newest incarnation of android, (Android 5.0) Lollipop to their devices. Most gave a ninety-day time-frame to make that happen, which happens to be about now. We already heard on Friday, that HTC will miss their self-imposed deadline (today) with a number of their carrier and regional variants of the HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 both not receiving Lollipop in the stated time.

Well, the race is on for the others and the latest is that it looks like the Samsung Galaxy S5 in the U.S., is currently in the process of receiving Lollipop pushed out. Well, to be clear, Verizon editions of the device seem to be receiving the update. This in fact, means Verizon are literally one of the first carriers in the US to see the Lollipop update pushed to their devices. If you are a Verizon customer (and running a Galaxy S5 of course), then you should see the update landing over the coming hours and days. That is, if you have not already done so. The build number for this update is VRU1BNLC. Strangely, it seems that two updates are needed to push the S5 up to Lollipop. It is not clear as to why two are needed, but either way, don’t be too alarmed if you are asked to install two consecutive updates. You can click the source link below to find out more about what to expect with the S5 update in a handy little Verizon pamphlet.

So, it seems at least one of Samsung’s 2014 flagship devices is receiving its lollipop update in the U.S. on time. Of course, if you are using Samsung’s other 2014 flagship device, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 then we heard the news on Friday that it looks like you might have to wait a little longer for your update. As there seems to be some wait on Gear VR compatibility before the update to the Note 4 can be pushed out. Do you own a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5? Have you seen the update yet? How do you like it? How’s Lollipop TouchWiz? Let us know.
