Samsung Releases the Galaxy A7 in India, The Phone Is Priced At Rs. 30,499 ($490)

The Samsung Galaxy A7 is now officially up for grabs in India. It will hit your pocket for around Rs. 30,499 or about $490.00 and can be purchased from Samsung’s official online retail store. Samsung is hoping that this latest phone will help spur sales in one of the largest cell phone markets. They have been facing stiff competition from Micromax, in some cases trading the top spot in sales from one quarter to the next. With the A7 launch, Samsung is hoping to get a buffer on their top spot in that country.  According to latest reports, Samsung held around 25% of the market followed very closely by Micromax with 20% of the total market share. Samsung has also had to compete with Apple in the Indian premium smartphone space.

The Samsung A7 should help bolster sales in this competitive market. The Galaxy A7 packs a 5.5-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display and a comfortable 2GB of RAM. It has 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded with microSD for an additional 64GB boost in storage. It also sports the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor. The Samsung Galaxy A7 also has a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter along with software to allow you to take “Auto Selfies” with the front camera for all your selfie needs. It has of course 4G LTE with WiFi  802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, AGPS, GLONASS as well as USB 2.0 and NFC. And it packs all of this in Samsungs slim metal constructed case at just 6.3mm that will be available in black, white, and gold colors

The Samsung Galaxy A7 is the top dog in Samsung’s A series phones with the Samsung Galaxy A3 and A5. These phones have been making a push around the globe. The price point may be a little high for some markets, but India has shown recently that the consumers there have an eager thirst of premium devices but want it at a fair and reasonable price. With cheaper handsets on the market in India from competitors such as Xiaomi and Micromax that pack similar specs, it may be a tough sell for Samsung, in the long run. The market in India hit $10 billion this last year, so there is plenty of room. Samsung hopes with the release of the Galaxy A7 it will allow them to hold on to their ever decreasing top spot in one of the world’s largest cell phone markets.
