Google announced the Nexus 6 way back in October with preorders set for October 29 and shipping in early November in the US. It made its way into Canada on select carriers near the end of November – Rogers, Bell and Videotron were all selling the device. We are happy that WIND Mobile has announced that they too will be selling the Nexus 6 – Midnight Blue only – starting on February 5. Their website does not disclose any pricing, but we must assume they will play nice with the other carriers and the Google Play Store – $750 outright and $280 on their best Tab plan.
The Nexus 6 that WIND Mobile will be selling appears to be the same Nexus 6 on the other carriers. However, it will only work on WIND Mobile’s AWS-based 3G network, until a different SIM card is installed – then it will work on other carrier’s networks or WIND Mobiles’ LTE network, once it launches.
The new Nexus 6 is a huge change from the older Nexus 5 – much larger, more high-end and more expensive. The new model comes with a 6-inch QHD AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 and 493 pixels-per-inch (PPI), making it a rather large device measuring 159.26 x 82.98 x 10.06 mm and weighing in at 184 grams. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 32-bit 805 processor clocked at 2.7GHz powers the device, along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage – there is no room for expansion. Google and Motorola want you to store your data up in the cloud, not on your device. It packs a 3220mAh battery to get you through an entire day. The main camera is 13MP with autofocus, dual-LED Flash Ring that encompasses the lens and even OIS. The front-facing camera (FFC) is 2MP for social media selfies and video chats. It also has dual front-facing stereo speakers, a full metal frame, nano-coating for water resistance and has built-in wireless charging.
