Acer is planning to show us what’s next for them in NYC in just a few weeks. The folks over at Acer have invited us to their latest event. This time it’s in New York City and they are planning to show us what they have in store for the rest of the year. This includes Android as well as Windows products. On the Android/Google side, we may see some more Chromebooks, as well as tablets and smartphones. There may even be a smartwatch, but I wouldn’t put money on that. Acer is teasing “some other smart devices” though, perhaps some smartwatches, fitness trackers or something else entirely, so it’ll be interesting to see what they have in store, in about 3 weeks.
In the past, Acer hasn’t really had a big Android presence here in the US. They have put out some rather mid-range tablets that run Android, as well as some low-end models. Where they really stand out in the US is with their Chromebooks. I’m actually typing this up on the Chromebook 15 right now, and working on a full review for that. On the Chromebook side, Acer has really come out swinging. They are likely the largest Chromebook manufacturer out there, and also one of the first. Acer does make smartphones, smartphones that run Android as well as some that run Windows, which we did get hands-on of at MWC earlier this month. However, they never make their way over to the US. Which is likely due to the carriers. We’ll cross our fingers and hope we see some smartphones from Acer for the US at this event next month.
As far as “some other smart devices” go, we’re really interested to see what Acer has up their sleeve on that front. Perhaps they are jumping into the Smart Home industry, which has really been heating up lately. Or maybe some wearables, hopefully that includes an Android Wear smartwatch or two. Either way, we’ll be in New York City in a little over 3 weeks to see exactly what Acer has in store for us. So you’ll want to keep it locked to Android Headlines for all the latest.
