AT&T Confirm HTC One M7 Update Beginning Today Although Arriving In Two Parts

Although April is just about to break through, there are still a number of devices waiting on their update to Android 5.0 (Lollipop). To be more specific, there are a number of variants of devices waiting on their update. The two prior flagship HTC devices, the HTC One M7 and One M8 are prime examples of this type of device. While, some carrier specific variants of both One devices have received their updates to Lollipop, others have not. Most notable in the U.S., owners on AT&T are still waiting for their update.

That said, and probably against prior expectations, then it seems the HTC One M7 is likely to beat its successor to the update. This is because yesterday came the news that the update is due to begin today for the One M7. The news came via the usual HTC suspect, Mo Versi, who sent out a tweet confirming the One M7 on AT&T had finally received TA (Technical Approval) and the update should begin rolling out today.

Well, for those looking for an update on the situation, it seems AT&T have now posted the changelog for the update on the M7 on their website, confirming that the update is en route. The update is rolling out, although the announcement does also confirm that the update will be arriving in the form of two separate stages. According to AT&T, this is due to the size of the update. The first stage (rolling out today) will bring devices up to Android 4.4.2. The second update will bring the device up to Android 5.0 (Lollipop). The information does state that customers will be notified of the second update (Lollipop) on April 6th. However, it also does state that the two updates will be immediately available for “user initiated updating’. The announcement lastly does advise that those who are planning to self-update will need to wait an hour between installing the two downloads once they are available. As such, if you are running a One M7 on AT&T then you might want to keep an eye on your update status for the first of the two updates arriving. As well, as eye on the AT&T website for further information on your second update.
