The ink on the ads for the new LG Watch Urbane Android Wear smartwatch were barely dry when AT&T jumped on board and was the first carrier to announce they will carry the new device. Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Device Marketing and Developer Services, AT&T Mobility said “AT&T is excited to add the LG Watch Urbane to its industry-leading selection of wearables. LG Watch Urbane combines the style of a classic timepiece with the latest technology that makes it easy to stay connected on-the-go. It’s stylish, cutting edge and convenient, so you can wear it to nearly any occasion and still receive notifications that matter most.” It is nice to see the carriers ready to support the new devices – it allows the users to start enjoying them as soon as possible with carrier support… and it does appear that AT&T is always one of the first carriers to grab up the newest technology.
Our own Alex is at MWC and had some hands-on experience with the LG Watch Urbane and was quite taken with the device and said that it looked much better in person than in the renderings. The LG Watch Urbane features a premium metal design with a thinner and more formal look. The Watch Urbane is first and foremost a piece of jewelry that happens to be a smartwatch – form over function. You could wear the new Watch Urbane to a formal dinner function and no one would be the wiser. It sports a full-circle P-OLED display that really optimizes the display area. It uses the standard 22mm watch band – the Watch Urbane comes with a stitched leather strap that is replaceable – so the users will be able to customize the device to suit their taste.
Based on the popular Android Wear operating system, all you need do is say, “OK Google” to search for the information you need, whether it be key notifications, social media updates or daily schedules. Even though it is designed for the luxury users, LG also took its durability into mind as well with a water resistant rating that is good for up to one meter for 30 minutes.
AT&T will sell the new LG Watch Urbane in both its stores and online at www.att.com – pricing and availability will be announced at a later date. Please hit us up on our Google+ Page and let us know what you think of the new LG Watch Urbane…as always, we would love to hear from you.
