Although a well-known Canadian cable television and telecom, Eastlink also provide wireless services. It was founded in Amherst, Nova Scotia in 1971 and was one of the first cable licenses granted by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications (CRTC.) In 2008, Eastlink spent $25 million in an AWS auction for 19 licenses in Ontario, Atlantic Canada and Grande Prairie, Alberta. In 2011, they announced they would begin offering wireless services in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island and in 2013 they launched its wireless HSPA+ and LTE services.
Now they are tempting other wireless subscribers to jump ship by offering new customers from a competing company a promotional $200 if you port your number over and activate a new account. The promotion gives you an option to bring your own phone with you or purchase a new phone, but you do have to use one of their Eastlink EasyTab plus plans with a minimum of 500MB of data. Only you can decide if the $200 would be enough to make it worth your time – how much will you have to pay to leave your existing carrier and are you ready for a new device. The offer is only for a limited time and you must accept certain conditions…see their website for all of the facts.
Eastlink is also offering a “Blowout Sale on Samsung Smartphones,” that is also being offered for a limited time. You can get yourself a free $50 Visa Prepaid Card for a new activation on Nationwide plans with 500MB or more of data on select smartphones. There is a limit of one Visa card per activation and the Visa Prepaid card will mailed out 6-8 weeks after your activation.
Eastlink has been upgrading their arsenal of Samsung devices when they announced this past fall that they would be carrying the mid-range Samsung Galaxy Core LTE. You can pick one up for $0 down with EasyTab or $288 on a no-term. The Galaxy Core LTE uses a 4.5-inch TFT LCD qHD display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels and 245 pixels-per-inch (PPI). It has a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz with 1 GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. They also announced in the fall that they were carrying the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Just recently, they announced that they would be carrying the new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge as well – although no pricing or exact details were given.
