HTC just announced the ‘new and improved’ HTC One M9 at the MWC show in Barcelona, and shortly thereafter, EE in the UK made their own announcement – they will carry the HTC One M9 in a dual-tone silver and rose gold as well as an exclusive single-tone gold version for a period of three months – we can only assume it will then be released to other carriers as well. The HTC One M9’s Cat-6 chipset is a perfect match for EE’s 4G+ network offering download speeds of up to 150Mbps. EE will also offer the HTC Dot View case, which allows users to answer calls without opening it, in Grey, Blue and Pink.
With EE’s download speeds that fast and the HTC One M9, users will be able to take full advantage of streaming high-definition videos and viewing them on its Super LCD3 1080p display and listening to them with HTC’s dual-stereo front-facing speakers and exclusive BoomSound – now using 5.1channel Dolby Surround sound for great 24-bit high-definition sound. Although the new One M9 looks very similar to last year’s One M8, there are specification differences under the hood. The newest 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor powers the new HTC One M9. It uses four cores running at 1.5MHz and the other four at 2.0MHz and boasts transfer speeds up to 450Mbps. It will pack 3GB of DDR4 RAM and 32GB of internal storage, although it is expandable via a microSD card slot.
The camera area was completely revamped by dropping the Duo Camera and 4MP UltraPixels for a more conventional 20MP main camera, although OIS is still not included. HTC moved the 4MP UltraPixel camera around front for great selfies and video chatting – the UltraPixels are said to help with low-light shooting, taking in up to 300-percent more light – such as in a dimly lit bar or restaurant, where many social media selfies are taken. A 2840mAh battery powers the device this time around. Consumer and business customers will be able to purchase the HTC One M9 handset in the exclusive single-tone gold for a three month period, dual-tone silver and rose gold or single-tone gunmetal grey through the EE online shop, EE telesales and EE retail stores at launch. Pre-order opens on March 9, however exact launch date or pricing were not announced.
